By contrast, it has lost some of its fame Lato by Polish Łukasz Dziedzic, described as a typeface that, thanks to semi-round details in the letters, offers “a feeling of warmth, while the sturdy structure gives stability and seriousness.” Lato means “Summer” in Polish: originally, the font was designed as part of the corporate identity for a large client, and then later made available for public release (finding favor with over 22 million websites worldwide).

How to add a Google a font to the site

Adding Google fonts to your site is a simple and straightforward process that can be handled even by those without advanced technical skills.

The platform is designed to be user-friendly, allowing users to select, customize and integrate fonts into their web projects in just a few steps.

Google Fonts offers two main modes of use: online integration via code snippets and downloading for offline use. Both options are easy to implement and offer flexibility depending on the needs of the project.

If we are working in a WordPress environment or on other CMSs, we first need to check if our theme does not already include Google fonts by default (a frequent situation with the latest premium themes), checking the functionality in the configuration panel. If this option is absent, we can download a plugin (for example, Easy Google Fonts or Google Fonts Tipography), install it on the panel and proceed with the selection of the preferred font.

If we prefer not to use a plugin, manually installing Google fonts is not complicated. After choosing the best font, we copy the link generated by Google Fonts and go back to the WordPress admin panel; go to “Appearance” and then to “Theme Editor.” We open the header.php file and paste the link into the tag. Finally, we add the CSS needed to apply the font to the desired elements of the site, either by editing the theme’s style.css file or by using the WordPress Customizer.

For generic manual installation, the process is similar, we visit the Google Fonts website and browse the vast collection available, locating the font that reflects the style and tone of the site. Specifically, to apply the font to CSS styles, we need to specify the font name in the font-family property for the HTML elements we wish to style-for example, if we want the font to be applied to all body text, we will need to add the font to the CSS rule for the body tag.

It is important to test the new font on different browsers and devices to ensure that it displays correctly and does not adversely affect page load time: even though Google Fonts is optimized for high performance, it is always a good idea to check that the integration has gone smoothly.

Local installation of Google Fonts on a pc is done manually: simply visit the Google Fonts site, select the font and click on Download to download a Google Font (single font or entire family) in zipper format. To install the font on the pc, simply unzip the folder, right-click on the ttf file and select install. Now we can use the same fonts from the blog or site to create ebooks or graphics in line with the Web style.

In fact, if we wish, we can have a local copy of the fonts to work offline or to include them directly in the project.
