SGE (Search Generative Experience)

The “search generative experience” is a new search system developed by Google in 2023 that uses artificial intelligence to generate answers and content in a more dynamic and contextualized way

This type of system leverages machine learning algorithms and natural language models to understand and interpret user queries, providing answers that are not simply pulled from a database of pre-existing answers, but generated in real time.

SGE does not replace the old SERP and does not trigger for queries: it appears as a kind of super featured snippet, prominently placed, and the user can expand it with his or her interaction, resulting in more complete and informative answers to his or her search queries.

SGE aims to transform online search into a richer, more interactive experience, going beyond the simple presentation of link-based results to offer users content that is directly useful and immediately applicable to their informational or other needs, providing a range of answers that reflect the complexity and diversity of human knowledge.

The goal is thus to improve the search experience by making it more interactive, personalized, and able to handle complex or conversational questions. This technology is still under development and, for example, is not currently available in Italy.
