Canonical Tag

The canonical tag (also called rel canonical or canonical link) is an HTML element that helps prevent duplicate content problems by specifying the “canonical” or “preferred” version of a web page.

It is useful when there are several similar copies of the same page: by indicating which version is canonical for us, we help search engines understand which version they should index and rank in search results.
