Doorway Pages

Doorway pages, or portal pages, are a black hat SEO technique of creating web pages with the sole purpose of manipulating search engines to rank highly for specific keywords, and then redirecting users to a different page. These pages are often of poor quality and do not provide useful or relevant content to users; their sole purpose is to serve as an entry point (hence the term “doorway”) to generate traffic to other pages, often unrelated to the initial search query.

Doorway pages can be created in large numbers to target a wide range of keywords and can be used to direct users to a single destination. They can also be hidden from users and visible only to search engines through techniques such as cloaking, which presents different content to users and search engine crawlers.

Google and other search engines condemn the use of doorway pages because they compromise user experience and the integrity of search results. Websites that use this technique risk penalties, including removal from the search index, because doorway pages violate search engine guidelines.
